FFL Transfer Information

As of January 01,2014, an Illinois resident that sells, gifts, etc. a firearm to another Illinois resident is required to check the status of buyer’s FOID, obtain an Approval number and comply with the 24 and 72 hour wait period.   You do not have to conduct this process through an FFL, however, we are offering the following service.  We will accept your firearm, conduct a NICS check, apply the 24 or 72 hour wait period and transfer your firearm to its new owner.  The recipient will be required to complete a 4473 form.

The cost for this service is 25.00 per firearm, plus 2.00 for the NICS check.

If you  are an Illinois resident and have purchased a firearm from an out of state seller, you

need  to have it shipped to a Federal Firearm Licensee (FFL) in Illinois.

Once you purchase your firearm, you need to contact us by sending an email to securefirearms@yahoo.com.  Please include your name, FOID #, phone number, firearm description, seller’s name and either their email address or fax #.  We will provide the seller with a copy of our FFL and the firearm will be shipped to us.

Once your firearm arrives, we will contact you and set up a time for you to inspect your purchase and initiate the required paperwork.  You need to bring your valid Firearm Owner Identification Card (FOID) and a government issued ID  (driver’s license or state ID).

After the initial 4473 form is completed a NICS check will be conducted.  The minimum wait period when purchasing a long gun is 24 hours, and 72 hours for a handgun.

If you purchase your firearm from an FFL (gun dealer or shop)the transfer fee is $25.00 per firearm, plus 2.00 for the NICS fee

If you purchase your firearm from a Private Party that is sending the item to us for transfer-the transfer fee is $65.00 per firearm, plus 2.00 for the NICS fee

**If you have a firearm shipped here you need to pick it up in a timely manner.  Any firearms left here for over 14 days will incur a $5.00 per day storage fee.**

If you purchase a handgun and it does not include a lock,  you need to bring a gun lock, or a locking  gun case when picking up your firearm.
